Sunny Side of the Docs is one of the largest fairs designated for the documentary films market. It opened on June 21. The most active producers and directors of ’s documentary films attended the fair. They included producers Arūnas Matelis (Studija "Nominum"), Rasa Miškinytė ("ERA FILM"), Jurga Gluskinienė ("Monoklis") and Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė ("Just a Moment") along with director Lina Lužytė. Several producers joined this interesting company whose companies usually work with foreign producers filming in . These producers included Lineta Mišeikytė (Baltic Film Services) and Ramūnas Škikas (Lithuanian Film Studios). The Lithuanian Media Desk was represented by project coordinator Irma Pužauskaitė. Nearly all the producers attending will be first-time participants at this fair. Rasa Balčikonytė, Culture Attaché in France of the Republic of Lithuania, attended when the Stand opened on June 21.
Rasa Miškinytė, Chairwoman of the Independent Producers Association of Lithuania, asserted, “I am very pleased that the independent producers of Lithuania began to unify at long last. Even the fact that producers of Lithuanian films are going to the fair together with foreign service provider companies is a huge step forward. It signifies of their interacting and working together. After all, we all work in for . We supplement one another. We are two sides of the same coin.”
The most relevant issues for the film producers of at this time are the introduction of a law on cinema, development of an institution for cinema and a mechanism for tax incentives. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and the Vilnius City Municipality have been the most active at attempting to resolve these important issues, which would foster a rejuvenation of movie making in Lithuania and bring back the movie producers who are currently selecting other countries for their production.
Financing for the Lithuanian Films stand was provided by "Verslioji Lietuva", European Union’s structural funds and the companies of independent producers participating in this project. Sponsors-in-part include BĮ “Tarptautinių kultūros programų centras [International center of cultural programs]” , “Media Desk Lietuvoje” and the Fund for Supporting Culture of the Ministry of Culture of . MartPro Company designed and installed the stand as well as provided the technical maintenance for it.
