In total 926 million people attended cinemas in the European Union in 2006, which is 3.6% more than in 2005. The figures for cinema attendance have grown in many countries; after the greatest increase was in (54.3%), (40.2%) and (35.8%).

Cinema Council at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania has finished distributing funds for film production projects: in total 4 990 000 litas from the Budget and almost 400 000 litas from the National Cinema Support Programme.    

Currently an art documentary film about the ‘Disney of Europe’, Vladislavas Starevičius, is being made in . The pioneer of Lithuanian cinema Starevičius became known in the world as an initiator of unique three-dimensional (puppet) animation and a magician who had surpassed his time.
