The secret of Lituanica

Is the legend of transatlantic flight by Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas still significant to the new generation of Lithuanians? Based on the pilots' journals, recent archival documents, expert judgements, the film tells the story of two men who lived in the twentieth century, who lived their lives in a meaningful way and have become the nation's heroes.  Where does a legend start from?  What are the real causes of the accident?  Several parties in the film are trying to answer these questions.  The story takes us to the beginning of the twentieth century, to the 1930's. Steponas Darius was a military pilot, emigrant, Lithuanian, who got the idea of the first Lithuanian flight across the Atlantic, which has become immortal.

This film is not about the death of the two Lithuanian-Americans, it is a film about their immortal flight across the Atlantic.
