The Shadow of Heaven

 Lithuanian culture has been marked by M.K. Čiurlionis sign for more than hundred years already. The composer, painter, genius, madman, person, who gave to the whole new space, new context, new universe. This great creator died young, desolated, unknown.

The main film’s character – talented pianist Rokas Zubovas – grandson of M.K. Čiurlionis is searching for his identity roots. His addressee is the progeny of Čiurlionis home; some of them are already watching their sunsets, dissipated by the destiny wide in the world. The conflict between the ideal and reality, contradiction between the creation and consumer this endless longing and antithesis of very own and extraneous is the sign of Čiurlionis family.

This is white and black film with color painting inserts and photographs, taken by M.K. Čiurlionis. Film is full of composer’s letters and music.
