In Spain – International premiere of the film "Paradise Road" by Tomas Smulkis
This week, in Spain already the 41st Huesca prestigious documentary film festival has begun. This is one of the oldest documentary film festivals in the world, and this year, Lithuanian director Tomas Smulkis' documentary short film "Paradise Road" is presented in the competition program of this festival.
"I am very happy that my film was selected for this film festival in Huesca, which has rich tradition. It's a pleasure that "Paradise Road" will meet in the competition program with films from around the world - Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Russia and other European countries,"- says director Tomas Smulkis who is currently visiting Spain.
"Paradise Road" tells about the director Tomas Smulkis' aspiration to meet and work with Swedish director Roy Andersson: "For a long time I was following, I was interested in Roy's work. Now when I think about it, R.Andersson had a lot of influence on my earlier works. And Sweden has become a close country to me for some reasons that are difficult to explain. So my dream was – to go there, to meet and to work with Roy and to see closely how he works,"- T. Smulkis tells the story of the film's birth.
In Lithuania the film premiered last September, it took part in Vilnius Documentary Film Festival, Kaunas International Film Festival, International Film Festival "Kino pavasaris". Currently, the film is also taking part in the special program of the Lithuanian short film agency "Lithuanian Shorts", at the festival "Silver Crane Nights".
