Documentary film "Dinner" returns from the festival with an award
Film “Dinner” (Lith. "Pietūs Lipovkėje”) directed by Linas Mikuta, production company “Monoklis”, returned from the Russian International Documentary Film Festival "Rossiya". The documentary short film participated in the competition program of the festival, and won the Special Jury diploma for bright artistic embodiment of the theme of compassion and mercy. Director Linas Mikuta took part in the 25th, anniversary edition of the festival, and introduced his film "Dinner" to the audience. "The festival in Yekaterinburg this year showed really strong and colourful program, so I am very pleased that our film was noticed and evaluated", – the director shared his impressions. International Documentary Film Festival "Rossiya" is one of the most prestigious film events in Russia. According to the ranking of festivals that take place in Russia concluded in 2009, this festival came 3rd out of 76 festivals, staying behind only "Kinotavr" and Moscow International Film Festival. Every year this event attracts attention of many cinema professionals, critics and viewers. Among winners of the festival are famous documentary filmmakers - Viktor Kossakovsky, Pavel Kostomarov, Sergei Loznitsa, Aleksandr Rastorguev. Lithuanian documentaries have also left a mark in the history of this festival – in 1997, "Venus with a Cat" by Janina Lapinskaitė became the best full-length film of the festival; and in 2013, cinematographer of the film "Dzukija's Bull" (directed by Linas Mikuta), Kristina Sereikaitė received award for the best cinematographic work.
