A. Blaževičius' debut film "The Saint" – at the prestigious Warsaw and Busan film festivals

In Busan (South Korea) and Warsaw (Poland) international film festivals that start, respectively, today and tomorrow, the international premieres of the director Andrius Blaževičius' debut film "The Saint" will take place. The film will be screened in the competition programs of new directors.

"'The Saint' is the debut feature film of the director Andrius Blaževičius, so we are very pleased that we are starting with the world and international premieres in such A-class international festivals as Warsaw and Busan”, – says the film's producer Marija Razgutė.

Busan International Film Festival, which starts today, is the largest film industry event in Asia, rich with numerous film premieres, guests and grandiose film fair. It attracts annually the most famous Asian and world films, distinguished representatives of the film industry. "The Saint" will be shown in the special program "Flash Foward", in the category of newcomers of non-Asian film school, where at least 34 films from around the world will compete to be named the best. There will be three showings of the film, which will be attended and the film will be presented by the director A. Blaževičius and actress Gelminė Glemžaitė.

"The Saint" tells about the crisis: economic, financial, and crisis of faith. Action of the film takes place in 2008, somewhere in the Lithuanian province. A young man loses his job, starts spending more and more time with the hairdresser he has met at the labour exchange instead of staying with his wife and two little daughters. He spends long days going to job interviews and drinking beer with friends in the courtyards of apartment buildings. Their daily routine is spiced up when they see a video on Youtube, in which some weirdo swears having seen Jesus Christ. The search for that guy begins.

World premiere of the film will take place at the Warsaw International Film Festival, which starts tomorrow. The film will be shown on the first day of the festival, in the competition program of new directors, in which 16 films from around the world will be competing. During the festival, there will be three showings of the film, which will be presented by the filmmakers.

International Warsaw Film Festival that takes place 7-16 October is one of the most important film festivals in Europe. A Lithuanian film is entered in the competition program "Competition 1-2" of this festival for the third time. In 2015, "The Summer of Sangaile" directed by A. Kavaitė was shown in the program; in 2012 – "The Gambler" by Ignas Jonynas.

Presentations of the film at Busan and Warsaw film festival was funded by the Lithuanian Film Centre.
