In New York, the film "You Can't Escape Lithuania" by Romas Zabarauskas gained recognition
The film "You Can't Escape Lithuania" by Romas Zabarauskas, was presented for the first time in New York, and it gained recognition – it was the runner-up at the Bushwick Film Festival, in the competition of feature narrative films. The Lithuanian's work stayed behind only the film "I am Gangster" by German director Moritz Rechenberg, which tells a realistic story about the everyday life of Los Angeles gangs.
The ninth edition of Bushwick Film Festival this year invited to 27 film screenings, as well as various workshops, discussions, parties and other events. This year's festival cooperated with the Tribeca Film Institute. The jury for feature narrative films consisted of producer Adam Neuhaus, actor Marc John Jefferies, and director-producer Mollye Asher, whose latest film "Songs My Brothers Taught Me" had a success at the Cannes and Sundance film festivals.
Lithuanian cinema artist Jonas Mekas also visited the world premiere of the film "You Can't Escape Lithuania". "By watching this film you are constantly warned, why it is created. You are constantly reminded that this is for a reason. It points to itself in a Brecht-like manner, and for this reason it achieves both its political and cinematographic objectives," – said the legendary film world personality at the discussion after the screening. Premiere of the Romas Zabarauskas' film will also take place in Europe – it is arranged in Germany, in Cologne and Dortmund, by the "Homochrom" LGBT+ Film Festival.
