A New Film by Diana and Kornelijus Matuzevičius Will Be Screened at the Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival
On November 21–26, the most recent film by Diana and Kornelijus Matuzevičius,” Horizons or a Life in Louvres”, was invited to the 47th Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival () competition.
The premiere of this film was during the closing evening of Vilnius Documentary Film Festival. The hero of “Horizons or a Life in Louvres” is Vytautas, a farmer from Šatrija, who has bought 283 ha of land in twelve years, and is now called ‘The Latifundian of Šatrija’. Has a human being, stuck in daily routine, time to answer his or her own question: “Why do you live on this earth and what do you have to do?” This is the question the directors D. and K. Matuzevičius seem to be asking. The film was produced by Studija 2.
In 1999, Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival featured “To Be” by D. and K. Matuzevičius.
Films by these directors are often invited to international documentary film festivals and have won awards of the most prestigious festivals many times, among them: The Best Short Documentary Award at the Cinema du Reel Film Festival (George Pompidou Centre, Paris) for the film “Of this Land” (2001); The Best Short Documentary Award at the Mediawave International Festival of Visual Arts in Deras (Hungary) for the film “Behind the Threshold” (1995); The Golden Gate Award at San Francisco International Film Festival, FIPRESCI Prize at Cracow Film Festival (Poland); Grand Prix at Oberhausen Film Festival (Germany) for their film “Illusions” (1993), etc.
